Treasurer’s Report
Gary presented the updated treasurer’s report, reflecting balances of $2,622.84 and $1,694.91 in the General and Landscaping Funds, respectively. Gary noted a $350.00 receipt to the landscaping fund from Chase Bank and one outstanding check for $250.00 towards the Winter party.
Committee Reports
Social – Chairperson Lisa indicated that the Mid-winter Blahs party was a success despite the bitter cold weather, with 29 people in attendance. Linda noted that ASNA got two new members at the party. The neighborhood party is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2008. Lisa will work with the alderman’s office to determine on what street the party will take place, although Winona was suggested. Lisa mentioned putting up signs or a banner to advertise the party, and activities/events for the party were discussed. Lisa also suggested setting up a – neighborhood marquee where meeting notices, notes, and other ASNA happenings could be posted. She will check further into this idea.
Greening — We have a spring greening/cleaning date of March 22, 2008 to clean up the parkway after the Winter. This would include picking up and cutting dead vegetation, as well as planting grass seed and perhaps mulching. It was suggested that we might think about budgeting for summer watering on the parkway.
Membership/Communication – Chairperson Linda indicated that ASNA currently has 39 paid members, plus an inquiry was made from a resident on the west side of Ashland Avenue regarding membership. Other ways to get more residents involved in ASNA were discussed, such as a game night.
CAPS Report
ASNA will put a CAPS link on their website. Chris indicated that he and our CAPS representative, Marsha Bukala, will work on setting a date for distribution of low energy light bulbs and house numbers. It was suggested that an ASNA flyer with the date of the summer neighborhood party, as well as membership information, be distributed with the light bulbs. The next Beat 2032 CAPS meeting will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Ravenswood Evangelical Church, 4900 North Damen Avenue. Their website is www.beat2032@gmail.com.
Old Business/New Business
ASNA officers will be nominated next year; however, nominations for new officers will be accepted on the ASNA website before the end of March. If no new nominations are received, all current officers will remain in office until 2009.
ASNA residents now have until March 31, 2008 to appeal their property taxes. Information and forms are available at Alderman Schulter’s office.
Julia and Chris suggested setting up a kids’ club where ASNA kids can socialize through playdates and parents might partake in a babysitting co-op. This idea will be looked into.
Continue reporting potholes to Alderman Schulter’s office so that they may be repaired in a timely manner.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.. The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 14, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at Noel Suarez’s home, 1706 West Carmen.
