ASNA’s “Mid-Winter Blah” Party

 Sunday, February 12th

3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The football season may be over, but winter’s not : not by a long shot!   So come join your neighbors for food and drink and fun and games at ASNA’s First Annual Mid-Winter Blahs Party.   We’ll provide the food and fun, all you have to do is come!   The first 25 guests will receive a free drink coupon (so don’t be late).   Everyone receives free food and soft drinks (and cash bar is available to all).   Children are welcome.

$5 per person suggested donation at the door.   All proceeds go to the Andersonville South Neighborhood Association.

This neighborhood party is sponsored by the   Andersonville South Neighborhood Association (ASNA).   The boundaries of ASNA are Foster on the north, Winnemac on the south, Ravenswood on the west,   and Ashland on the east.   All residents of   Andersonville South are welcome!

3:00                 Tree Decorating

Gather at 5109 N. Ravenswood and prepare to decorate an evergreen on the Ravenswood Parkway at Carmen. Bring canned goods or non-perishable items that ASNA will donated to a food patnry, also an ornament(s) for our neighborhood tree–especially ones the birds can eat!

4:00                 Sing-a-long

Sing holiday songs to your neighors.   Bring copies of your favorites.   We’ll also provide music. Singers will walk up and down Winona, Carmen, Ravenswood and Foster.   Light a candle or leave the porch light on if you wish to be serenaded!

5:00                 Treats

Happy Howl-o-Ween Parade & Costume Contest

Howl if you love Halloween! A Happy Howl-o-Ween Parade & Costume Contest for dogs and their owners will be Saturday, October 29, in the Andersonville South neighborhood.

Registration: 12:30 at the corner of Carmen and Ravenswood. Parade and judging starts at 1:30 p.m.   [download the registration form as a PDF]

Entry fee: $5 per dog (owners free).

Divisions: Ages 12 & under and 13 & up.

Here is your chance to declutter and make money!

Call (773) 334-4461 to sign up.   You will be included in advertising for the event.

Note:   You must get a city permit.   No charge. Just swing by the Ward Sanitation Office at 4141 N. Rockwell.

ASNA Annual Block Party!

KIDS ACTIVITIES

  • 2 to 3 p.m.: Jumping Jack for the kids (weather permitting)
  • 2 to 3 p.m.: A visit from our local fire department, with a real fire-truck, and demonstration on fire safety
  • Face Painting
  • A kids Grab Bag with free toys
  • Games and Prizes

At 4 p.m., well fire up the grills and start cooking hot dogs. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share with others. Well provide the hot dogs, buns, condiments, paper plates, napkins, cups, utensils, soda and ice. There will be a central location for all the food. Look for the canopy in the middle of the street.

OTHER ACTIVITIES / EVENTS

  • Music from a local band Nutmeg Slim and the Uptown Motherpluckers
  • A massage therapist from Serendipity Massage will be on hand to give chair massages ($1/minute), from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (estimated time)
  • An exhibit from the Edgewater Historical Museum
  • Contests and raffles, with prizes donated from local businesses including Hopleaf Bar and Restaurant, Painted Light Studio, Alamo Shoes, Ericksons Deli, Charlies Ale House, La Donna Restaurant, Jin Ju Restaurant, The Landmark, and the Office of Alderman Gene Schulter
  • 6 p.m.: Cake Walk (if youd like to bring a cake or other baked goods for the cake walk, please bring the item to the block party by 5:30 p.m.)
  • 7 p.m.: Well raffle off our GRAND PRIZE!!

The party will be held RAIN OR SHINE. So come on over and join the fun!
